All around us there is always something grabbing our attention. Buy this. Buy that. You need this. Why wait when you can buy it now? In our secular culture it is vital that non-profit organizations and churches catch up with what our American culture is doing to reach people. What is more important is how you are reaching your audience with a relevant message that attracts their attention. With this in mind I will list four ways to successfully reach your target audience.
1. Social Media
This is a no brainer and everyone has a social media account of some kind; with Facebook and Twitter being the top most used social media platforms being used. One question you need to yourself is who are you reaching out to? What interests them? If your target audience uses Facebook more than Twitter then create your marketing campaign using the platform you are able to receive more feedback from (Facebook, in this example). To get a visual of why social media is so important here is a statistic:
The average user logs 1.72 hours per day on social platforms, which represents about 28 percent of all online activity. – Adweek.com
2. Responsive Website
Majority of websites are still in desperate need of a website that meets the W3C Standard for a qualifying website. Every website we have created, even outside of our agency, we constantly see the number of users visit our client’s website via a mobile device of some sort. Having a website that is clean in design and responsive to easily read and navigate your website helps the chances of reaching your target audience with a better UX (User Experience). If you don’t have a website that meets these standards, I urge you to get your website updated so you don’t lose potential users that you could be reaching. In addition, when you have a professional design a website that is well organized, easy to navigate, and clean your rankings will increase on search engines on Google, Bing, and Yahoo which will reach more of your target audience.
3. Set a Marketing Goal
Without a goal in mind for any campaign or reason for having a website is like starting a business without a business plan. What is the end goal? What do you want your users to accomplish when viewing your website? As a agency that creates custom websites for churches and non-profit organizations, the major reason for this type of industry to even have a website is to either get them to attend their church or donate on their website to a cause. In a business aspect goals can differ from one business man to another.
4. Update, Update, Update
Keep your content updates across your social media platforms as well as your website. Your users will love you and will continue to keep wanting to come back to your Facebook Page or Website because you keep your content updated with the latest information. Doing this keeps users expecting something new every time. If you don’t have the time or ability to maintain content hire someone with experience that knows your marketing goals and can keep the content and information rolling. Keep this in mind: Continuously keep your content updated so you never lose your target audience.
